A young buyer has stunned an auction crowd — and real manor agents — by purchasing "the worst firm in one of the best streets in Kew" for more $1.6m to a higher place reserve.

The 6 Edward Street property, which sits on 1216sq m of land, had been listed for $5m-$5.5m. But information technology soared beyond all expectations at Saturday's auction to attain an incredible $vii.24m.

Fletchers auctioneer Mark Fletcher described the mega sale, inside the exclusive Sackville Ward, equally "crazy".

Mr Fletcher said seven bidders vied for the deceased estate, with a young woman ultimately buying "the worst house in one of the all-time streets in Kew".

He said she planned to build a dwelling on the block, replacing a rundown, brick and timber firm.

"There were no overlays or heritage requirements so we idea people might subdivide it, simply she plans to build a unmarried home," Mr Fletcher said.

"(The vendor) was amazed. It was the old family dwelling house where his (late) sis had been living.

"For that sort of money it was crazy."

The Victorian-inspired home is in immaculate status.

Meanwhile in Attwood, a young family from the U.s.a. snapped upwards a Victorian era-inspired house.

The couple and their daughter won the immaculate five-bedroom holding at 45 Stonebridge Style with a $ane.28m bid.

Barry Establish Gladstone Park auctioneer Jason Padula said the buyers "roughshod in dearest" with the property, chosen Drumcondra, which featured menses amuse and a Roman bath-inspired pool.

He said three bidders competed for the abode, but were pushed to their limits by the family.

Mr Padula added he was "starting to see a slight shift (in the market) back towards the buyer".

"Information technology'due south a lot fairer for the buyer — almost the perfect market place."

And in Rowville, a three-bedroom holding soared $180,000 above reserve to fetch $1m on the dot.

Bidding for the mod family home, at two Settlers Court, began at $640,000, before it was called on the marketplace at $820,000 and eventually sold in front of a crowd of 150 people.

Ray White Rowville agent David Armstrong said 20 people had registered to bid on the property.

"There were a lot of interested first-domicile buyers, young families and some downsizers who all liked that information technology'd been renovated and doesn't need any extra work," Mr Armstrong said.

"Information technology's a turnkey business firm — the successful buyers can walk directly in and outset living their lives."
